Booking

How do I book a homestay on Excoka?

Pick a property, send a booking request through the site, and we check availability with the host. You can also call +91 9164502125 or email booking@excoka.com.

When is my booking confirmed?

Your booking is confirmed once you receive written confirmation from us by email, WhatsApp or phone. Until then, nothing is held.

How do I pay?

Payment is made directly to the host, usually in person at check-in, unless we agree something different in writing when we confirm. Excoka does not process or store card details. All prices are in Indian Rupees.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 7 days before check-in and you get a full refund. Cancel 7 days or fewer before check-in and there is no refund. For genuine emergencies, medical situations, natural disasters or government travel restrictions, contact us and we will look at your case individually.

How do I cancel?

Email booking@excoka.com or call +91 9164502125 with your booking reference. The cancellation date is the date we receive your request.

Can I book for a large group?

Yes. Capacity runs from 2 up to 12 guests depending on the property. Several are whole houses that suit families or groups travelling together. Filter by guest count on the listing page.

Staying

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is usually from 12 noon and check-out is 11am. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, tell us when you book. Early check-in and early check-out can normally be arranged, and a late check-out may carry a charge depending on the schedule.

Are these whole houses or single rooms?

Both. Most of our properties are complete 2BHK houses where you get the entire place, including the kitchen. Some offer individual rooms, and one has dormitory beds. Each listing says which.

Can I get home-cooked food?

At several properties, yes. A number of our hosts cook for guests on request, usually on a menu basis agreed the day before. It is the best reason to choose a homestay here over a hotel.

Do the properties have WiFi and air conditioning?

Most have both, along with parking and a full kitchen. Amenities vary by property and are listed on each page. Filter by amenity on the listing page.

Are pets allowed?

At some properties, yes. Look for the pet-friendly tag on the listing, and tell us when you book so we can confirm with the host.

Visiting Udupi

What is the best time of year to visit?

October to March. The sea is calm, days are warm and dry, and ferries to St Mary’s Islands run from October to late May. It is also festival season, with Kambala buffalo racing from November and the Rathotsava chariot festival in January. See the coastal planner for month by month detail.

Can I visit during the monsoon?

Yes, and it is cheaper. June to September brings heavy rain, hard-running waterfalls and an intensely green coast. Two things to plan around: the state fishing ban runs June into July so there is no fresh catch, and the sea is too rough for swimming.

Which area should I stay in?

Bengre for the coast and quiet. Kemmannu for the river and greenery. Santhekatte if you want to be near town and the temple. Kodavoor if Malpe beach is the main event.
